Half Term Information Summer 2 2026

What a journey we have been on, not just in this term’s learning but throughout the whole of year 3! We have enjoyed reading the book, ‘A World full of Journeys and Migrations’ this summer term. The children have enjoyed remembering all the various topics we have studied throughout the year as we have read about different countries and cultures in the text. To complete their learning journey in year 3, we of course had a journey around Italy to compare towns, regions, climate and physical features that impact how people live there.

We also learnt how to use our secondary and primary colours in Art to paint an Italian meadow whilst also exploring Leonardo Da Vinci’s sketch art. The children had a great time harnessing their computing skills, creating power points all about Italy. They even had the opportynity to make pizzas from scratch this term!

The theme of journeys continued as we studied the life of Jesus from when he was as a child. In science, we have been on a journey of scientific enquiry, asking questions, making predictions, gathering data and coming to conclusions. In maths, we have learnt all about shapes and statistics, looking closely at pictograms and having a go at drawing our own.

We have made the most of the recent heatwaves to have a rounders competition between the Year 3 classes which resulted in a draw! The children showed wonderful sportsmanship and loved being outside in the sun!
