Half term information Autumn 1 2025

All of our Year 2s have worked extremely hard this half term, and we just want to say a massive WELL DONE to them all for starting the year with such wonderful effort and enthusiasm!

Our topic this half term has been ‘From Farm to Fork’, where we explored where our food comes from. We learned about the different types of farms — arable, dairy and livestock — and discovered what kinds of produce each one provides. We also developed our map-making skills and even created our own maps of a farm, complete with a key!

In Science, we’ve been learning about animals, including humans. We studied the life cycles of a chick and a butterfly and learned the meaning of a very long word… metamorphosis! We also explored what animals and humans need to survive and enjoyed a lively class debate about the age-old question: Which came first, the chicken or the egg? What do you think?

In Design and Technology (DT), we’ve had great fun researching different types of pizzas, bread types and choosing our favourite toppings. We then designed, made, and — most importantly — tasted our very own pizzas. They were absolutely delicious!

In Maths, we’ve been diving into addition and subtraction, learning about fact families and number bonds to 100. We’ve also been using a variety of maths aids to help us count on and understand number relationships. We can’t wait to start working with even bigger numbers next half term!
