Half Term Information Autumn 2 2025

It has been a busy but fun half term for Year One.  Nativity rehearsals, dance practicing and lots of singing has been wrapped around our Castles Topic.  The children loved the visit to a real castle before half term and they used this experience to support their learning of the features of a castle.  Everyone produced some amazing writing, we are so proud of them.  Next half term handwriting is going to be a strong focus.

In Design Technology the children had a go at making their own castle with moving parts and in PE we had a go at Maypole dancing and archery.

Maths has been lots of fun this half term, exploring 2D and 3D shapes and discovering the properties of shapes.

The half term ended with a really exciting visit from a pantomime company.  The children loved this and wrote thank you letters, requesting a return visit.

Children’s comments about their learning

"A cube is a bit like a cuboid, but all the faces are square."

"A knight has a helmet to protect their head."

"The princess has an exquisite dress."

"The prince was so downcast as he glared out the window."

"I love the pantomime.  It was so funny when the wolf chased the ghost."
