Half Term Information Spring 1 2026

What an amazing term we’ve had! We had the lovely opportunity to ‘travel’ to Egypt during our Egyptian WOW day. The children had an amazing experience to have hands on experience of everything they have been reading, studying and researching about Ancient Egypt in our Topic lessons this half term.

The children have learned about everyday life as well as that of the Pharaohs. We have learned so many facts about the process of mummification (yes even the gory details!), the life of one of the most famous Pharaoh’s, Tutankhamun, and how the River Nile was utilised. This learning also inspired our English work. The children wrote wonderful adaptations of the traditional tale of Cinderella, a recount by Howard Carter and biographies about King Tut himself.

In Science we have studied plants! We have learnt about the different parts of a plant and how each part has its own job to do. We even conducted an experiment to test how plants would survive if they did not have sunlight or water. In RE (religious studies) we focused on light. Why light is important for a variety of world religions and sources of light.

We have had a lot of fun completing units in gymnastics and ball skills in PE this half term. We have been feeling very inspired by the Milano Cortina Olympic Games!

In Maths we continued to learn about multiplication and explored long multiplication.  We then moved on to look at measurement and converting measurements from mm to cm and cm to m!
