Half term information Spring 2 2026

We stepped into the shoes of Ernest Shackleton following the treacherous journey he endured with his crew in Antarctica. The children wrote letters of application and then, after learning the events of the expedition, they wrote diary entries about what the crew did during the months their ship was stuck. The children were amazed by the actions of Shackleton and his crew. The final written piece of the half term was an adventure story based on a choice of given openings. Linked to out explorers topic, was the DT unit on designing and making energy bars, which the children really enjoyed.

In maths, we have been perfecting our percentages, diving into decimals and marvelling at measures for both area and perimeter.

In PE the children had the benefit of Dan, an experienced cricket coach, with whom they did a series of cricket drills and games on the playground. We look forward to continuing to develop the skills learnt on the field in the summer term.
Quotes from children:

Max: "I liked the cricket coaching and delighted to be back on the field at lunchtime."

Victoria: "I enjoyed designed and making the energy bars and being back on the field."

Oskar: "I really liked the DT energy bars project and making circuits in science."

Eri: "I liked the coding unit in computing where we made games and tested them."
