Half term information Summer 1 2026

We have had another action packed half term in year 4, with much of our learning based around the geography topic of India, which the children have really enjoyed. We started by researching India for our non-chronical reports. The text Elephant Dance has proved to be a real inspiration and helped to produce some fantastic writing in mini books using speech punctuation. Then we finished the half term with some instructional writing.

Our maths learning has again covered broad areas of the curriculum, including the four main operations and decimals. We have also been practising our multiplication facts for the check after half term.

Electricity has been our science topic in which we have thought about keeping safe around electricity and we particularly enjoyed practically investigating circuits.

The highlight of our half term was our visit to Burwell House. Where we enjoyed creating natural art and using maps to explore Burwell House and the surrounding village amongst other things. The children were so well behaved - we were most proud of all of them.

Children’s comments about their learning;

Adam , "I really enjoyed tasting foods from India: It was phenomenal."

Alex, "The highlight of my half term was fab science."

River, "I really enjoyed having a sleepover at Burwell house and playing with my friends."
