Half term information Autumn 1 2025

The children have fully immersed themselves in the learning this past term and have really engaged in the topic: Stone Age to Iron Age.  We experienced the Stone Age period with a trip to Wandlebury Country Park, where we learnt about the Stone age history- including how to make wheat and bread on a hot fire. We wrote descriptions about stone age scenes and modern classroom settings based on the text, Stone Age Boy. The children have mastered how to write a good set of instructions on how to make all the interesting things made during the Stone age. In science they enjoyed testing and exploring different types of rocks and fossils.  The new maths focus on mastery and using power maths challenged lots of us; especially as we had to think about partitioning numbers in a variety of different ways. In other areas, we have been outdoors exploring team work and adventure skills and have also completed a unit on gymnastics whilst including hand apparatus to complete a sequence of travelling and balances.
