Half Term Information Spring 2 2026

Year One have had a great half term.

In Geography, we learnt about Kenya. The children compared life in Kenya to life in the UK, exploring similarities and differences in weather, landscapes, animals and daily life.

In Maths, we really enjoyed using the weighing scales to find the mass of a range of objects in the classroom. We compared the weights of objects and used non-standard units of measure and grams to say how much things weighed. We then explored capacity, using water to explain the words full, empty and half full.  In Science, we explored the four seasons. The children learned how weather, daylight and nature change throughout the year. We discussed the clothes we might wear in each season and how plants and animals adapt as the seasons change.

In English, we focused on expanding sentences. The children practised adding adjectives, conjunctions and extra detail to make their writing more interesting. They enjoyed turning simple sentences into descriptive ones and sharing their ideas with the class.

The children have worked incredibly hard this half term, and we are very proud of their enthusiasm and progress.
