Half term information Summer 2 2026

We all had a fantastic day partaking in the SAW project at the start of the half term. During this day, the children enjoyed completing various scientific investigations, producing a fantastic piece of art and writing some inspiring poetry.

Our last text, which formed the focus of our learning in English this term, was a brilliant book called The Final Year by Matt Goodfellow. The children really enjoyed reading this thought-provoking book; as well as some superb pieces of writing, it inspired brilliant performance poetry and excellent classroom discussion about a whole range of issues.

This term, we have been practising our athletics skills in PE to help prepare the children for sports day. The children worked on a variety of running, jumping and throwing events.

We were really impressed with the maturity shown by the children during the PSHE unit, ‘Sex and Relationships Education’. Respect and understanding was shown by everyone and many sensible questions were asked throughout the lessons.
Our Year 6 production ‘Shakespeare Rocks’ took a lot of time and effort from the children to prepare for. We began by mastering the songs in class including solos and duets. The children worked tirelessly to learn their lines and generate props for the show before performing for Key Stage 2 and two evening audiences, which were a roaring success.

The children have also been involved in various transition activities to help prepare them for Year 7, most notably the transition days to their secondary school and an assembly delivered by Cambourne Church.

We have thoroughly enjoyed teaching this lovely group of children this year and will really miss them. Wishing them all the very best of luck for Year 7.
