Halt Term Information Summer 2 2025

What a journey we have been on, not just in this term’s learning but throughout the whole of year 3! We started this half term learning about the Stone Age and we have made links back to Neanderthals through our principal text, ‘A World full of Journeys and Migrations’ this summer term. The children have enjoyed remembering all the various topics we have studied throughout the year as we have read about different countries and cultures in the text. To complete their learning journey in year 3, we of course had a journey around Italy to compare towns, regions, climate and physical features that impact how people live there.

We also learnt how to use our secondary and primary colours in Art to paint an Italian meadow whilst also exploring Leonardo Da Vinci’s sketch art.

The children had a great time harnessing their computing skills, creating power points of their favourite countries all over Europe, which they presented to their peers.

The theme of journeys continued as we studied the life of Jesus from when he was as a child. In science, we have been on a journey of scientific enquiry, asking questions, making predictions, gathering data and coming to conclusions. We put our measuring knowledge to use as we performed an experiment where we had to bake a cake and change the ingredients in order to perform a fair test; recording our predictions as a class was made as easy as we applied our statistics proficiency from our maths unit.
