Half term information Summer 2 2025

In the final half term of the year, year 1 have loved learning about dinosaurs! For many, this has been their favourite topic. We have learnt about Mary Annings and her discoveries. Did you know that in 1823 Mary was the first to discover the complete skeleton of a Plesiosaurus. We linked our learning of fossils to our art work, comparing the swirling patterns found on Ammonite fossils to Henri Matisse's most famous collage work ‘The Snail’. Take a look at our continuous line drawings!

In Maths we have revisited both money and time. We had great fun making our own clocks and using these to make the o’clock and half past times.

During June the school took part in #30DaysWild. This is all about taking time out for nature in your own way, at your own pace. We looked up at the clouds, deciding what they look like, we hugged trees, grounded ourselves by going barefoot on the grass and it was great to listening to bird song.

Children's comments about their learning:

"My favourite dinosaur is a tyrannosaurus rex because it has huge powerful claws."

"It is nearly 12 o’clock, that’s lunch time."

"I want to be a palaeontologist like Mary Annings."

"My favourite season is summer because I like it when the sun is shining."
