Pupil Premium and Free School Meals Information
What is Pupil Premium Funding?
Pupil premium is additional funding given to schools to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils. It is given to help children from lower-income families, children who are in-care or who have been adopted from care, and children with parents in the armed services.
It is allocated to ensure pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially. It has provided funding for schools to commission services that support these pupils.
How do we use Pupil Premium funding at Monkfield Park?
Pupil premium funding is used to support children in a variety of ways. Evidence suggests that pupil premium spending is most effective when schools use a tiered approach, targeting spending across three areas:
- Teaching, including specific professional development
- Targeted academic support from our Pupil Premium Champion, tutors and our intervention groups
- Wider approaches, such as counselling, funded places at Breakfast Club and After-School Club and support with funding trips and residentials.
